Ingeniero Forestal (Universidad Austral de Chile), MSc (Universidad de Chile), y Doctor (Universidad Católica de Chile), desde el 2008 es académico de la Universidad de Santiago de Chile, y desde el 2012 que se incorpora al Departamento de Gestión Agraria, Facultad Tecnológica de la Universidad de Santiago de Chile. Realizó un postdoctorado Fondecyt (2006-2008). Su investigación se centra en la conservación de la biodiversidad en paisajes modificados por el ser humano. Ha contribuido con 69 publicaciones científicas indexadas en Science Citation Index, así como 5 ediciones y capítulos de libro en los últimos 5 años.
